Urban-Ultra in collaboration with Dubai Roadsters, brings you this unique, non-competitive cycle challenge taking you east from the coastal Sharjah lagoons, through the stunning Hajar Mountains across to the east coast of Kalba and then north all the way to Fujairah and your final destination, Le Meridien Al Aqah – the route stretches 200km with approx 1300m of elevation along smooth tarmac roads, winding through dunes, over mountain climbs and along the beautiful east coast highway to the finish where you can enjoy the fine sandy beaches of Fujairah.
Start/Finish Location
The iconic Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge starts from Sharjah Mamzar Lagoons (25°18’35.05”N 55°21’10.52”E) promptly at 06:00hrs on Friday 16th November 2018. There is ample parking space and you can approach and park, on the Dubai Mamzar side or the Sharjah side. Please download the Rider Guide pdf for updated information and maps.
Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to check-in at the registration desk (and collect your race pack if you are an international/non Dubai participant). The ride will finish at Le Meridien Al Aqah in Fujairah. Riders are asked to reach the finish no later than 14:30hrs which is a minimum requirement of 27.5kph.
At the finish you will be rewarded with shower and changing facilities to prepare for your lavish BBQ buffet on the hotel’s private lawns with amazing views of the beach and Indian Ocean. A designated and secure area will be available to rack your bike until your departure – all bikes must be claimed by using your shirt bib number – which will be checked against your bike number.
1. THE C2C RIDE ONLY: Your AED 550 entry fee includes a fully supported ride, a 5-star BBQ, Special Edition Cycle Jersey, Bandana and Finisher Medal.
2. THE C2C RIDE WITH RETURN TRANSPORT: You can also buy the ride with all the above including a return bus and transport for your bike for AED 725. (This year, you and your precious cargo i.e. your bike, will travel together on the same vehicle)
3. FRIENDS & FAMILY: Additional BBQ tickets are AED 225 (Spaces are limited!)
** All participants/guests eligible for BBQ will be issued a wristband on entering the BBQ garden. BBQ access is not permitted without your wristband.
SPEED PODS AND HOW THEY WORK
A ‘speed pod’ is a group of riders riding at a designated speed. The ‘pods’ will be organised based on the km speed you have estimated you will average and have submitted on your registration, so please be honest. Each rider pod (max 45 riders) will start out approx 2 mins apart. Participants wishing to ride in the same ‘pod’ we will do our best to accommodate you, but please ensure you fill in the same TEAM name for each rider on registration, and understand that you must all cycle at the same pace/speed. If you are registered as a lower/higher speed than the majority of the other team members, you will be assigned a speed pod according to your registered speed.
